About Us

Our Story

The Nav Nirman Foundation (NNF) is a premier addiction recovery center nestled in the serene, natural surroundings of South Asia. Our compassionate, spiritually awakened staff and dedicated trustees provide culturally sensitive rehabilitation services.

Established in 1991 in New York by Walter and Rosemary Picardo, NNF began serving the South Asian community struggling with substance abuse. Recognizing the unique cultural challenges faced by this population, the Picardos created a foundation grounded in understanding, compassion, and holistic healing.

In 1995, NNF expanded to India with the opening of our Ashram in Murbad, near Mumbai. Built on donated land with tremendous community support, we started with temporary facilities but quickly grew into a leading holistic rehabilitation center. Our natural surroundings and culturally sensitive treatment approach have made us a beacon of hope for hundreds of individuals and families.

Over 30 years, we have successfully treated hundreds of patients, earning commendations from dignitaries like Rudolph Giuliani and Bill Clinton for our innovative approach and dedication to upholding human dignity.

“Our mission has always been grounded in compassion, cultural understanding, and holistic healing. From New York to India, we dedicate ourselves to building healthier lives free from addiction.”
